Biography
Arinzé Kene is an award-winning playwright and actor. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, he moved with family to East London in 1991. He was a member of the Young Writer’s Programme at the Royal Court Theatre and part of Soho Theatre’s HUB writer’s programme. His plays include: Defined by Design (Old Vic), Estate Walls (Ovalhouse Theatre), Little Baby Jesus (Ovalhouse Theatre), Suffocation (Ovalhouse Theatre), God’s Property (The Albany), Good Dog (Watford Palace Theatre) and Misty (Bush Theatre).
Kene is a recipient of the 2009 Alfred Fagon Award (Good Dog), winner of the 2011 West End Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright (Estate Walls), winner of the 2019 Black British Theatre Award for Best Male Actor in a play (Misty) and winner of the Off West End theatre Award for Best Performance Piece (Misty).
