Biography
Edward Kamau Brathwaite born in Bridgetown, Barbados, is a poet, playwright, literary critic and leading Caribbean historian. After graduating with a BA in English and History at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge, and a PhD in History from Sussex University in 1965, Brathwaite along with John La Rose set up the Caribbean Artists Movement (CAM) in London in 1966. Brathwaite’s Mother Poem published in 1977 was adapted by Temba Theatre Company in 1989.
