Biography
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad Errol John was an award winning playwright and actor. After leaving school John began a career as an artist and journalist but soon followed his dream to act, joining the Whitehall Players theatre group. Following the Second World War John moved to Britain and found work in the theatre appearing in a number of productions on the London stage. In 1953 John wrote his seminal play Moon on A Rainbow Shawl. It won the Observer Play of the year, and was produced at the Royal Court Theatre in 1958 with subsequent productions in New York and the Caribbean.
