Biography

Gbolahan Obisesan was born in Nigeria and moved to South East London aged nine. He is a playwright and theatre director and former Artistic Director of Brixton House Theatre (formerly Ovalhouse Theatre). He was the recipient of the Bulldog Prinsep Directors Bursary 2008 – 2009 at National Theatre Studio and the 2008 Jerwood Award at the Young Vic Theatre, for which he directed the critically acclaimed SUS. His written work for theatre includes adaptations of The Fisherman by Chigozie Obioma and Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman, as well his play Mad About the Boy (Edinburgh Fringe).
