Biography
London born Marianne Jean-Baptiste is a writer, actress, singer-songwriter and composer. She was classically trained at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and in 1994 was nominated for the Ian Charleson Award for her performance in Measure for Measure with the theatre company Cheek by Jowl. Jean-Baptiste received Academy Award, Golden Globe and British Academy Award nominations for her feature film debut role in “Secrets and Lies” in 1996 and wrote the score for Mike Leigh’s 1997 feature film Career Girls.
