May Sumbwanyambe

May Sumbwanyambe is a librettist, radio dramatist, academic and an award-winning playwright from Edinburgh. In 2016 his debut play, After Independence, was the winner of the Alfred Fagon Audience Award. In addition to writing a PhD entitled ‘A Practice-Based Investigation into Writing Post-Black History Plays’, he works as a new writing tutor. He has worked with the Royal Court Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, National Theatre of Scotland, The Old Vic, Paptango and numerous others.
