Biography
London born Winsome Pinnock is an award-winning playwright, academic and dramaturg. She holds a B.A. in English and Drama from the Goldsmiths, University of London, as well as a Masters in Modern Literature which she completed at Birkbeck College. Winsome was Associate Professor in Drama at Kingston University for 2005 to 2019, and was Senior Visiting fellow at Cambridge University. She worked as a dramaturg with the Royal National Theatre’s New Views scheme as well as the Royal Court’s International Department. Her work has been produced on the British stage and internationally since 1985. She was the first Black British female writer to have a play produced by the Royal National Theatre. Darfur: A Response (Tricycle Theatre), The Principles of Catrography (Bush Theatre), Tituba (Hampstead Theatre), Rockets and Blue Lights (Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, National Theatre). Awards incluse the George Devine Award, Unity Theatre Trust Award, Alfred Fagon Award for Best New Play, Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Special Commendation, Pearson Plays on Stage Award for Best Play, Ruth and Golden Harris Commission Prize, and the Windham-Campbell Prize 2022.
