Synopsis
The second of Wole Soyinka’s Jero plays, Jero’s Metamorphosis is the story of the profit minded prophet Brother Jero, and his quest to stop the acquisition of a private beach by the Nigerian government. He uses all of his cunning and religious hypocrisy to find himself replacing the good Pastor Shadrach as head of church. Under Jero’s command, the church undergoes metamorphosis into a military organisation, and prepares to make the beach into a space for their own profit-making desires.
