Synopsis

A play set around the fighting spirit of the Black workers that built the NHS. Phyllis is a single parent and Black NHS worker in her late 30s. She tends to patients in a failing hospital ward while being encouraged by other Black nurses and her union to join the picket line in the fight for better working conditions. Through her relationship with Colin, a Black patient, and Janet, a radical Black nurse, Phillis begins to question whether her services over the past twenty years has been a duty or simply slavery.
